Los Angeles-based artist Patrick Martinez examines memory, identity, social justice, cultural hybridity, and the changing LA landscape through a multimedia practice that includes painting, installation, and neon signage. Martinez’s "Jaguar Guardian (2024)" in the SAMA collection and now on view in "Readymade Remix: New Approaches to Familiar Objects" draws inspiration from the contemporary urban landscape along with the vibrant murals of the Cacaxtla archaeological site in Central Mexico (650-950 CE). Join SAMA curators Kristopher Driggers and Lana Meador as they make connections with Martinez’s work and the current exhibitions "Maya Blue: Ancient Color, New Visions" and "Readymade Remix." Then hear Martinez’s perspective on these ideas and his studio practice.Ticket Price: $5
