The Art Walks the Runway fashion show is back, March 18th & 19th, 2022 and will feature the hottest looks in local boutiques and Couture fashion.Produced and organized by Melissa Tschari DeHaven for the past 10 years, this two-day star-studded event will present runway shows from Gerro Couture, Ahmad Couture, Isabel Lopez, Forema Boutique, Ocean View & 7th, and Apricot Lane Boutique. Plus, additional performances by contortionist Katarina Danks, and a body painted runway performance show by artist Adriana Gomez with Elements of Body Art.
Doors open at 7pm and both shows start at 8 pm. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.
On Friday, March 18th, experience the best in local fashion from Forema Boutique, Ocean View & 7th, and Apricot Lane Boutique. On Saturday night, Haute Couture fashion takes over the runway with awe-inspiring looks from Gerro Couture, Isabel Lopez and Ahmad Couture. New Delhi-born designer Sha Ali Ahmad’s designer label of Ahmad Couture has been featured in many reputed fashion magazines, like L’Officiel India 2021 (Cover page), Glamour Magazine 2022, Harper's Bazaar Vietnam 2021, GMARO Magazine and more. He has been acknowledged and awarded a plaque of recognition for his fashion contribution in the State of Hawaii by Governor David Ige. Ahmad has also designed fine women’s clothing for Adriana Papell, Niteline, Scala USA, Ashro Lifestyles, and sold in Macy’s, Dillards, Nordstrom, David’s Bridal, Bloomingdales, Saks 5th Avenue, Lord & Taylor, and Neiman Marcus, among others. Ahmad has also styled a plethora of Hollywood & Bollywood celebrities and is a co-founder of Kauai Fashion Weekend in Hawaii.
Also being featured Saturday evening is Isabel International Original the couture brand of award- winning designer Isabel Lopez. Lopez got her start at a young age in her native Colombia, then immigrated to the USA. The designs of Isabel Original International have been on red carpets around the world, on runways in Boston and New York Fashion Week, and featured in countless magazine editorials, staying true to the brand’s direction of designing magnificent fashions which accentuate the natural curves of a woman’s body while capturing the spirit of elegance. Original Living Magazine is a fashion lifestyle magazine that Isabel created and has become another facet of the brand.
Minnesota-born and Punta Gorda, Florida-based designer Helen Gerro taught herself how to sew and design at an early age. She has been sewing and creating clothing for herself and friends since age 9. She moved to New York at the age of 21, immersing herself in the fashion industry and the garment district. Gerro sold her own line to major fine department stores and boutiques throughout the U.S. Helen was inspired to have her art jump off of her canvases onto her clothing. Gerro Couture features original paintings with her designer fashions as the canvas, making each piece a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted postmodern statement. Gerro’s day-glow Art Couture pieces have been seen on the runway in numerous fashion shows from Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Naples, Miami, New York, Atlanta, and a Trunk Show off Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
The event will also incorporate music, body art, and more with additional performances by contortionist Katarina Danks, and the artistic runway show by artist Adriana Gomez with Elements of Body art. Saturday evening will feature a theatrical performance titled "The Garden of Life'' which incorporates elements of dance and the human body as a canvas. Both nights will be emceed by Brittany Gonzalez, morning radio personality for iHeart Media, and Dj Dream Jay will be spinning the music for both nights.
