About this Event
We’re reclaiming the art of paying attention.
In a world that moves too fast, we’re pressing pause. We’re gathering 20 music lovers for a slow-down session centered around the records that shaped us.
This isn't just about the music; it’s about the "why." Whether it’s the album that got you through a breakup, a hand-me-down from your parents, or a hidden gem you found in a dusty crate—we want to hear the story behind the record.
The Experience Flow
Part 1: The Collective Deep Dive (45 Mins)
At 8:00 PM sharp, the doors lock. We sink into total, uninterrupted listening. We will spin legendary motion picture soundtracks—from timeless 70s scores and synth-heavy 80s cult classics to contemporary cinematic masterpieces. As the music plays, we will pass these iconic album covers around the room, experiencing cinema purely through sound.
Part 2: The Community Platter & Stories (60 Mins)
The doors reopen at 8:45 PM, and the floor belongs to you. Sticking to our movie soundtrack theme, we invite you to bring a record featuring a film score, a iconic needle-drop soundtrack, or a track made famous by a film. We’ll play your vinyl on our platter and share the personal stories of the movies and scenes tied to those records.
Part 3: The Open Q&A & Hangout (15 Mins)
We close the night with an open discussion. We'll trade movie score recommendations, talk about our favorite film composers, and connect with fellow music lovers over a shared passion for physical media.
The Theme: Songs You Grew Up With
Got a record that instantly takes you back? Dig through your parents' (or grandparents') dusty crates, and bring it down for this session. We’re spinning the tracks that raised us: the albums that looped on endless family road trips, the embarrassing friendship anthems, or that one song tied to a core memory you can't shake. Bring a vinyl, drop the needle on your favorite track, and tell us the story behind it.
This is not a casual background-music hangout. This is a communal, deep-listening sanctuary. We are gathering a tight circle of 20 music lovers, locking the doors, and spending 90 minutes rediscovering the magic, warmth, and cinematic scale of analog audio.
- Ears Open, Phones Down: We listen in silence once the needle drops.
- Bring Your Stories: If you have a record with a personal story or memory attached to it, bring it along to share with the circle.
Guest Speaker = Robin Chua, or KiDG (often known online as kkkidggg) is a prominent Singapore-based DJ and music curator widely recognized for bringing infectious energy and eclectic sounds to the local nightlife scene. As a resident DJ for legendary club nights like POPTART and TIKO DISKO, he seamlessly blends a diverse palette of genres—ranging from indie rock and synth-pop to funk, dub, and Italo disco. Driven by a personal philosophy to "just have a bloody good time," KiDG delivers sets that prioritize dancefloor joy and musical discovery, making him a beloved fixture in Singapore's alternative music community.
The House Rules
To preserve the focus of the session, we ask all attendees to honor our three pillars:
- Handle Records with Care: Respect the physical medium, whether it’s yours or not.
- Listen Actively: This is a phone-down, ears-open space. We listen in silence once the needle drops.
- Embrace the Discovery: Be open to sounds and stories outside your usual rotation.
What to Bring
- Your Ears: Bringing a record is not required—everyone is welcome to simply join the circle and listen.
- A Record (Optional): If you have a record (33/45/78 RPM) with a personal story you'd like to share, bring it along! Number tags for sharing slots are issued on a first-come basis at the door.
- Your Presence: Please silence all mobile devices upon entry to maintain the active listening environment.
