Join Art on Tap Chicago for our first live public screening as we bring together artists, filmmakers, and the community at Solemn Oath’s Still Life.
Since launching this year, Art on Tap Chicago has been producing short documentary films about Chicago artists and the places where creativity happens outside the studio. Our films explore the relationship between artists and the bars, taverns, and other informal gathering places that give them room to work, meet people, exchange ideas, and simply belong.
For this special event, we’ll premiere a newly created 15-minute festival cut bringing together highlights from our first films. You’ll meet some of the artists featured in the series and hear directly from them and the Art on Tap filmmaking team during a live Q&A following the screening.
The films explore everything from why artists create to why certain neighborhood bars become almost like second studios. As one of our artists puts it, being a regular at bars isn't necessarily about drinking: “It’s not about alcohol to me, it’s about community.”
