About this Event
What does it mean to feel at home? In ourselves, in a place, in the world?
Taking Ana Mendieta's powerful work at Tate as our starting point, this Art & Connect session explores how nature can help us reconnect with a sense of place, rootedness, and belonging. Through a short grounding practice, slow looking, discussion and making with natural materials, we will slow down together and explore what nesting means to each of us.
Nibbles and drinks included. Please wear clothing you are happy to get creative in.
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants a meaningful, slow evening with art and good company. Whether you are navigating a sense of displacement, curious about the theme, or simply want to slow down and make something, you are welcome here. No art experience needed.
What to expect? A calm, interactive session in a small group, blending:
- Grounding and mindful looking: A short, nature-inspired grounding to help you arrive and settle, moving naturally into looking at art together and noticing what the works bring up.
- Art insight & conversation: An exploration of works responding to nature, rewilding and our relationship with the natural world, with space for personal reflections and shared perspectives.
- Art-making: A relaxed, art therapy-informed making activity inspired by the session's theme. Simple materials provided. No skill needed, only curiosity.
- A supportive, welcoming atmosphere: You're free to share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
