ANZMUSC Public Lecture 2026: GLP-1 Medicines and Physical Activity - What the Evidence Says
GLP-1 medicines (for example as Ozempic and Mounjaro in Australia) are generating enormous interest around the world, not just for managing weight loss, but also other health concerns such as musculoskeletal conditions. But what does the evidence actually say about their benefits and risks, particularly for bone, muscle and joint health? And what role does physical activity play in supporting health while taking these medicines?
Join renowned science communicator Sophie Scott at the ANZMUSC Annual Public Lecture on Monday 9 November 2026 at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Leading experts will cut through the headlines and share the latest research on GLP-1 medicines, physical activity, and musculoskeletal health, helping you understand what the evidence means for everyday life.
Speakers:
- Professor Michelle Dowsey, University of Melbourne
- Professor Anne Tiedemann, University of Sydney
