(NL) Twee vrouwen. Vier bewegingen. Meer had Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker niet nodig om Fase te creëren. Met die baanbrekende choreografie op de vroege werken van Steve Reich hertekende ze in 1982 de grondslagen van de hedendaagse dans.
Meer dan 40 jaar later grijpt De Keersmaeker opnieuw naar vroege werken - dit keer van Philip Glass. Zijn composities uit de jaren 60, zoals Music in Contrary Motion en Music in Fifths, zijn net zo radicaal minimalistisch als het werk van de jonge Reich.
De nieuwe voorstelling GLA55 is opgebouwd rond tien cirkel- en spiraalvormige bewegingen waarmee De Keersmaeker de grenzen van volharding opzoekt. 55 minuten lang doorkruisen zes dansers de speelvloer. Met GLA55 doet De Keersmaeker waar ze al haar hele carrière in uitblinkt: abstract minimalistisch materiaal tot het uiterste verkennen.
(EN) Two women. Four movements. That was all Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker needed to create Fase. With this groundbreaking choreography set to the early works of Steve Reich, she redefined the foundations of contemporary dance in 1982.
More than 40 years later, De Keersmaeker turns once again to early works - this time by Philip Glass. His compositions from the 1960s, such as Music in Contrary Motion and Music in Fifths are every bit as radically minimalist as the young Reich's work.
The new performance GLA55 is built around ten circular and spiral movements, through which De Keersmaeker explores the limits of perseverance. For 55 minutes, six dancers traverse the stage. With GLA55, De Keersmaeker does what she has excelled at throughout her career: pushing abstract minimalist material to its extremes.
