Come see Samuel Beckett's little-known dark comedy, The End, at Chicago Dramatists, Sat. Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m. and Sun. Oct. 25 at 5:00 p.m. In The End, an old man evicted from an anonymous institution is handed a coat, a pair of boots, and a little pocket change, and tossed out alone into the world. Filthy, verminous, and terminally adrift, he is a man most of us would cross the street to avoid. Travel with this outsider as he stumbles down his road to nowhere. Journey into his imagination and into his grim but hilarious universe of bodily decay and dysfunction. This rare staging of Nobel-prize-winning author Beckett's post-war comic short story The End, written just two years before Waiting for Godot, will be performed by the inimitable actor Charles Pike and directed by London-based Julio Maria Martino. Produced by The Hauptschein Theater Collective, it is part of Rhino Fest, Chicago's annual theater extravaganza.
Chicago Dramatists is conveniently located at 798 N. Aberdeen near the intersection of Chicago Ave. and Milwaukee Ave.
