Come learn three-part harmonies by ear to The Judds’ iconic song, “Love Can Build A Bridge,” then take it to the streets for a FLASH MOB in downtown Nanaimo! With community songleader Sylvia Humble, and special guest Jona Kristinsson.Why a flash mob? Because the world needs more love — and more singing in public about it! Let’s surprise some unsuspecting Nanaimo folks with a big dose of harmony, joy and connection.
We’ll start with a fun 2-hour harmony workshop, learning the three harmony parts by ear (no sheet music). Then we’ll walk to (or meet at) an undisclosed downtown location and sing the song in public, flash-mob style (finish by 4 or 4:30).
The flash mob is optional — you’re welcome to come just for the workshop experience.
What inspired this? On October 30, I’ll be singing backup harmonies in Love Can Build A Bridge: Judds/Wynonna Tribute at the Port Theatre, featuring Jona Kristinsson — who will be joining us as our special guest for this Oct. 10 workshop and flash mob!
All voices are welcome and belong. No experience or advance practice is needed. Recordings of all three harmony parts will be provided ahead of time if you’d like to listen or practise — totally optional!
