Black women in the U.S. experience maternal mortality at more than three times the rate of White women — a disparity that has persisted, largely unchanged, across recent years of national data. This free educational event is designed to help nurses, nursing students and community members recognize and address the structural factors and implicit bias behind that gap.Join Rainier Olympic Nurses Association, the Ebony Nurses Association of Tacoma, and Tacoma Community College Nursing Program for a screening of American Delivery: Solving the Maternal Mortality Crisis in U.S. Healthcare, followed by a facilitated discussion connecting the film to current research on health equity in nursing practice.
