The theme of this special one-day workshop on the eve of the Winter Solstice is ‘the darkness of winter is not the end of life; it is the place in which the next life is being prepared.’ We will explore the journey from winter darkness into the dawning light of spring. This was an especially potent time of transition for our ancestors, both ancient and more recent. As winter deepened, light, warmth, food and resources became scarcer. Families, communities and livestock were drawn together, gathering, sharing, resting and becoming still. We will work using BCST skills and perspective to explore this journey, using our own personal tissue memories and accessing those of our ancestors, inherited through our body wisdom, intelligence and epigenetic coding.From a Chinese five element perspective, winter is the time of the Water element. It is the journey of transformation through conservation, descending, resting, remembering, gestating and finally emergence into spring and the Wood element. It is also the journey from fear to trust. Ancestral memories and beliefs relating to the Water element are often held in the organs and meridians of our kidney, bladder and urinary system. Using gentle palpation and Biodynamic stillness we can reconnect, rebalance and restore ourselves within the flow and timelessness of the ancestral field and the future field, the realm of the ‘yet to be born’. You will learn skills to bring this work into your daily life and your practice with clients.
You can participate in London or online, and video recordings will be available to all those who register. The workshop will include guided meditations, experientials and hands-on work in pairs. Online participants can join in the practice sessions from home. Open to all Craniosacral Therapists and Cranial Osteopaths.
Course tutor:
Mary Bolingbroke trained at the British School of Osteopathy graduating in 1992, and has continued to specialize in cranial work. She started teaching at the British School of Osteopathy in 1993 (and set up a multi-disciplinary clinic) whilst continuing to train at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London. With Ian Wright she co-founded the Irish Diploma in Paediatrics in 2009 and regularly teaches on the Biobasics (James Jealous) courses in the UK. Mary has a great interest in exploring the guiding principles of Osteopathy and CST as well as treating people of all ages and animals including horses, dogs and the occasional parrot.
