A live conversation about history, democracy, and what comes next, with presidential historian Alexis Coe and Civic Forum’s Reed Galen.
About this Event

Join Civic Forum in New York City for an evening with Reed Galen and Alexis Coe, a presidential historian and bestselling author.

The country’s 250th year is ending in a contested political moment. Reed and Alexis will talk about what the past can teach us about this one: how earlier generations held the republic together, where they fell short, and what ordinary citizens can do now. Expect an honest conversation and audience Q&A, and a room full of people who still care about showing up.

About Alexis Coe

Alexis is a presidential historian, a senior fellow at New America, and the American History columnist for the New York Times Book Review. Her most recent book is You Never Forget Your First: A Biography of George Washington, a New York Times bestseller. Her forthcoming book is Young Jack, a biography of the young John F. Kennedy. In the lead-up to America’s 250th, she traveled to 13 cities asking audiences “How Should a President Be?” She appears regularly on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, and PBS.

About Reed Galen

Bush’s presidential campaigns. He has managed high-profile ballot measure campaigns in California, Texas, and Colorado, and has advised Fortune 50 companies on strategic communications and policy.
