About this Event
An evening of talks about Queen's Park, including FoQP's AGM
Guest speakers:
Queen's Park Camphill site excavation
We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Kenny Brophy of Glasgow University and Dr Edward Stewart of Archaeology Scotland will be presenting on the excavation they led in the Hill 60 / Iron Age settlement area of Queen's Park this August/Sept, and on their research findings undertaken so far. They'll be bringing some of their excavation finds along so everyone can have a closer look at the ancient history of QP.
Gardening, Biodiversity and Wildlife presentations by FoQP volunteers
In addition: FoQP's biodiversity recording volunteers will present on the wildlife observations and research findings they've been undertaking, and an impressive year of wildlife at the ponds.
FoQP's gardening volunteers will present on the biodiversity planting plan they've been working on at the small pond and in the Scottish Poetry Rose Garden, and on the Isnad Voices project and the integration of poetry within the flower beds.
Want to get more involved?! We'd love you too! FoQP have been delivering an exciting and ambitious programme this year, and we'd be thrilled if some of our park users and social media followers would like to get more involved. An hour a week of your time or helping on the committee helps us achieve so much more for Queen's Park. In addition to our drop in sessions for gardening and biodiversity recording areas FoQP need more volunteer help in include:
*website development
*communications
*volunteer co-ordination
*organisational support
*fundraising
*wildlife and fungi expertise
*representation for what matters for park users including children and families
The more community members that get involved, and the broader in representation our committee is, the more FoQP can constructively achieve, as we now have a voice on the Queen's Park Working Group inputting into QP's development plan. We would love you to get involved! Drop us an email: [email protected] if you want to find out more.
