Hollywood movie star Kirk Douglas spotted her at the White Elephant restaurant in Mayfair where she was having lunch with her partner stage and film actor Richard Johnson and offered her the lead in his new movie 'Skallawag'. She turned the part down inorder to star in the now classic cult movie 'Iron Rose' (1973).
She broke into television in 1971 with 'Coronation Street' playing Ray Langton's friend.
Numerous guest star roles followed with Rex Harrison in Don Quixote, Lee Remick in Tennessee Williams' Summer & Smoke, Terry & June, Giants & Ogres for Granada.
Her most known TV role was in 'Mind Your Language' (1977) in which she starred for 3 years, and which is currently being repeated.
She went to the USA in 1982 where she acted in Hollywood with a two year contract in The Young & The Restless, Gavillan, My Man Adam, Lightning, the White Stallion (1986), she received rave reviews as Rosalind in 'As you Like It' ans she won the LA Critics Award in 1985 for her performance as Olivia in the Hollywood Theatre production of 'Twelfth Night'.
