About this Event

The Bakerian Medal and Lecture 2026 is awarded to Professor John Rogers FRS for foundational scientific and engineering contributions to the field of bioelectronics.

Professor Rogers is a pioneer in bioelectronic systems, with an emphasis on both fundamental studies and translation activities. He is most well known for his work on 'epidermal,' 'transient' and 'cellular-scale' electronic and optoelectronic devices.

His research has been recognised by many awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship, the Lemelson-MIT Prize, the Benjamin Franklin Medal, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the James Prize (US National Academy of Sciences), the MRS Medal (Materials Research Society) and the IEEE Biomedical Engineering Award.

Professor Rogers holds honorary doctorates from the University of Houston, the University of Missouri at Columbia and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland). He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, the US National Academy of Sciences, the US National Academy of Medicine, the US National Academy of Inventors and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
