About this Event

American Immigrants - Live is a fully improvised show that brings music to immigrant stories as told by audience members to the performers, Anthony Veneziale and Vivek Venugopal.
The show begins with a random audience member sharing their family's immigrant story - who the first person from their family was to come to the United States, when they came, where they came from, what they did. The performers then create an original song inspired by the story and then perform fully improvised grounded scene work inspired by both the song and background music. The scenes will add color and texture to the story and will culminate in a performance of the original song to tie everything together.
Vivek is a seasoned facilitator, improviser, stand-up comedian and host. He was born in Zambia, raised in India, educated in Iowa and lives in the Bay Area.
Vivek has hosted events and performed shows around the world with Speechless, The American Immigrants stage show and Freestyle+ and trained thousands of people across the globe. He has a professional background in software development, non-profit fundraising, tech sales, improv and performance (not in that order, but sort of in that order). He lives in San Francisco where he improvises being a good parent and partner to his wife and two kids every day with varying degrees of success.

Anthony (a.k.a. Two Touch) is a leader in the world of musical improvisation and co-creator of the acclaimed improvised Broadway hip-hop show Freestyle Love Supreme. A Tony Award winner, Grammy nominated Broadway/TV star and designer of a UCSF brain research study on the positive effects of improv-
thinking with Dr. Charles Limb and Sammy Wegent.Anthony has been performing and teaching applied improvisation for more than 25 years. He is the first presenter to give a totally improvised Ted Talk. Veneziale is also the Co-Founder and CCO of Mindless, Inc., a content and game developer that has built the world’s first improv and hip-hop-inspired, science-backed, AI-powered mental fitness gaming portal.
