About this Event
“ALTRUI” - An OFF TOPIC THEATRE Scratch Night
Off Topic Theatre, in association with Buffalo Roves Theatre, presents "ALTRUI".
Featuring three brand new plays seeking feedback to improve and re-work, intertwined with live singing. “ALTRUI” serves as a fundraiser for Off Topic’s 2027 production.
Each play has themes of mental health or helping others, aiming to explore these themes through new writing.
There will be QR codes for you to scan and give feedback on each of the plays presented.
We will be holding an Off Topic Theatre themed bake sale, alongside a raffle which will take place during the second interval.
About Off Topic Theatre:
Off Topic is a theatre company that was founded by a group of friends back in 2017 and has since produced several plays and original texts. Our theatre is fringe based, attempting to put a twist into classic texts. We do not audition members, rather we invite creatives to audition or hold open auditions, after which we will always offer a role within the company to ensure there is opportunity for everyone, no matter their background.
Our journey started with the project Dr. Faustus, which aimed to help create opportunities for young people aged 16-25 to produce authentic work that felt very much their own, alongside being able to offer those young people positions within the company or creative roles that they may not have been able to acquire in the professional industry, providing them with vital experience.
Our aims now have shifted to people of all ages, offering opportunities to upcoming creatives alongside experienced or seasoned theatre makers. We have worked closely with Working Class, Neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ people on multiple projects to help create inclusive theatre across multiple genres.
We are hoping to raise funds for our upcoming 2027 production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and need audience's help to continue working within our communties and producing bold grass roots theatre.
