Boundary Taproom x Alternative Ulstours: Terror Talks
Step into the fog of Victorian London for our bloodiest Terror Talk yet.
Dark historian Andrew Johnston of Alternative Ulstours returns to Boundary Taproom to explore the story of Jack the Ripper, the unidentified killer who terrorised Whitechapel in 1888 and became one of history’s most infamous murderers.
Moving beyond the myths and sensationalism, this talk examines the grim reality behind the headlines, retracing the stories of the five victims whose murders became known as the ‘canonical five’, from the first killings to the notorious ‘double event’.
We’ll delve into the chilling ‘Dear Boss’ and ‘From Hell’ letters sent during the investigation, examine the work of Inspector Abberline and the failures of the police investigation, and weigh the evidence surrounding the leading suspects, including the enduring royal conspiracy theories.
The story doesn’t end in London, either. Andrew will also explore the mysterious ‘man with the knives’ arrested in Belfast, bringing the tale closer to home.
An evening of true crime, Victorian tabloid sensationalism and unsettling history, this is a chance to look beyond the legend and examine the people, evidence and unanswered questions behind the Ripper case.
