Allen Pote grew up in Oklahoma and has been a church musician throughout his musical career. He attended Texas Christian University and Union Theological Seminary in New York, and he was a Fulbright Scholar in Belgium, where he studied with composer Flor Peeters. He has led hundreds of workshops, festivals, and seminars, and his compositions have been widely performed since 1975. After serving as Director of Music in two large churches in Houston and Dallas, he settled in Pensacola, Florida, where he and his wife, Susan, eventually became the Founding Artistic Directors of the 300-voice Pensacola Children's Chorus for 26 years. Since retiring, he continues to compose, travel, and spend time with his family. Join us in celebrating Allen Pote on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 10 am in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola.
