Description: Join us to confer an honorary doctorate on a legendary conductor and Lutheran teacher, Dr. Richard Fischer. Dr. Fischer recently retired from a storied 51-year career at Concordia University Chicago. His work broadened Lutheran collegiate wind band music and led many composers to write music based on Lutheran hymns. The program will feature two movements from Dvorak’s “New World“ Symphony, followed by classic wind band arrangements made famous by Richard Fischer’s recordings with the Concordia Wind Symphony (Chicago, IL).
