All Saints' Sunday:Remembering the Faithful Departed
On Sunday, November 1st, we will observe All Saints' Sunday, one of the most meaningful and sacred services in our church year. This day gives us the opportunity to give thanks for the lives of those who have gone before us in faith; remembering that our own walk with Christ has been shaped and supported by the saints who came before us, just as we shape and support those who will follow.
During worship, we will read aloud the names of our church members who have died in the past year. As each name is spoken, a candle will be lit in their memory, creating a beautiful tapestry of light that represents the ongoing connection between the church here on earth and the church triumphant in heaven. We will follow this time of remembrance with Holy Communion, joining our voices with the whole company of saints, past and present, around Christ's table.
All Saints' Sunday reminds us that death does not have the final word. These members remain part of our spiritual family, and their faithful witness continues to inspire and guide us. In lighting these candles, we celebrate not just their lives, but the hope we share in Christ's promise of eternal life.
Join us for this service of remembrance, communion, and hope.
