About this Event
Foster + Partners’ Martha Tsigkari says that architecture will not survive merely by architects asserting their “value”.
So what do we mean by “values” in an AI-inspired culture? Indeed, what do we even mean by human agency in an AI-dominated world? Already it is reshaping design, information and decision-making faster than was imagined just a few years ago. Some suggest that it is destabilising education and eroding critical thinking; while others suggest that it’ll lead to a democratisation of knowledge and a more skilled workforce.
This session will explore AI’s positive potential — from creative augmentation to rapid iterations and efficiency gains — as well as the deskilling and disruptive risks it poses to the profession and the wider construction industry. It might also touch on the data centre energy infrastructure required to keep the show on the road in the first place.
Expect candid discussions on authorship, creativity, liability, and the kind of architect (or non-architect) who will thrive or perish in an AI-augmented future.
