About this Event
Join us for An Afternoon Adventure of Flight at the Royal Geographical Society in London — an inspiring event for those drawn to flight, exploration, and the limits of human endeavour.
John Romain MBE will lift the lid on his work as a stunt pilot for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, revealing how the film’s spectacular flying sequences were brought to life. Drawing on years of experience, he will explore the aircraft, planning, safety considerations and human factors involved in delivering aviation at the very edge of what’s possible on screen.
We’ll also hear from John McFall — Paralympic medallist, surgeon and private pilot — whose journey from life-changing injury to the cusp of becoming the first astronaut with a physical disability is nothing short of extraordinary.
You’ll then follow a remarkable journey in a small, single-engine aircraft across the North Atlantic — a rare and demanding endeavour for YouTuber and private pilot Jon Hunt - The Flying Reporter . This candid debrief shares the tools used to stay ahead of the weather, the real-time decision-making, and unseen video from some of the most challenging moments. From landing in Florida as thunderstorms closed in, to picking up ice 200 miles offshore with no immediate option to descend, this is a rare insight into what these flights truly involve.
Through powerful storytelling and firsthand experience, An Afternoon Adventure of Flight brings together resilience, precision flying and the enduring spirit of adventure — all in support of Aerobility, a remarkable charity helping people with disabilities experience the freedom of flight.
