Sonora is a two-day festival by Afrovism in collaboration with Paradiso and Ticket to the Tropics. Afrovism is built around the celebration of Afro Arts and Culture. The aim is to inspire and connect people. Every event is designed to share meaningful experiences and highlight the many ways we can bring communities together through culture and creativity.Sonora starts with a vinyl listening session by 1.06 Library followed by a performance by Rim Akandoh Jnr & Amamere, and a DJ set by Kala Cité.
Rim Akandoh jnr & Amamere
The eight-piece Highlife band, founded in 2022 by Rim Akandoh Jr., draws inspiration from Ghana’s rich musical heritage. They have been performing across Ghana for some time and recently released their debut studio album Man Shall Be Free (Afro Urban Project, 2025). In April 2026, the band will embark on their first international tour across Europe.
In their music, they blend the guitar-driven Highlife style of the 1970s with Afro-funk influences. Their sound is energetic, layered, and immersive, inviting audiences to dance. With a background in performance and storytelling, each track carries its own distinct character and meaning.
Vinyl listening session by 1.06 Library
1.06 library aims to stimulate, educate and enlighten all curious minds and supporters of music.A library, that holds on archive of physical music selections curated by DRKNGHTS. Patrons of the art can indulge in a catalog of vinyl, cassette, and CD’s (+other discs). The library stimulates the mind and/or creative processes by the means of sound. lmagine being surrounded by a library filled with music, audio sound system and listening stations where you are encouraged to fully dig into the music & artist(s) and tease your mind for further creativity
Kala Cité
The creative world of multidisciplinary artist Thaniel Owusu Agyemang, reflects his deep connection with his roots and the people who have inspired him throughout his journey. Raised in an environment that encouraged his creativity, Thaniel was surrounded by individuals who encouraged him to explore his artistic talents. This upbringing led him to express himself through photography, film and music, which formed the basis for his ever-evolving artistic vision. Thaniel's artistic universe, reflects these ideas. His work captures stories of friendship, family and love, offering a window into the everyday beauty of life and the importance of human connection. His photography, imbued with a sense of history and heritage, has been featured in exhibitions in Amsterdam and London, connecting audiences to their roots while celebrating the meaning of relationships and community.
