About this Event
Join us for an in person bookclub special at Futurebuild 2026.
In line with Futurebuild’s theme of connection, ACAN Bookclub is moving offline for an in person session to discuss How to Fall in Love with the Future: A Time Traveller's Guide to Changing the World by Rob Hopkins. We’re only 4 years from 2030, the year set out in the Paris Climate Agreement for limiting warming to 1.5 degrees. We know achieving this seems increasingly impossible. What we need now more than ever is hope, optimism, and radical collective imagination.
Come join us at the ExCel London, Stand H25 to meet and discuss with fellow climate time travellers.
Book swap! As a bonus, please bring a climate themed book with you to swap with another member of the session.
There will be no online capacity with this event.
About Bookclub:
The ACAN Climate Literacy Bookclub will seek to start and facilitate conversations on systems level change. A book or chapter will be chosen for each session for collective discussion and learning on the topics that the text explores. These will be hosted online primarily, and we invite participants to form their own groups for sharing the books and in discussing ideas. So far we have read Braiding Sweetgrass, Doughnut Economics, The Good Ancestor, Thinking in Systems, and The Value of a Whale as we aim to unpick themes of ecological connection and reciprocity with the living world.
For anyone who has not joined us so far please do feel free to get involved, we would love to have you there. These sessions are currently hosted online however if you want to start an in person group, let us know where you are based and we can support or link you up with other interested people.
For these, and any other queries (e.g. if you are struggling to source a copy of the book), we will try and assist wherever possible. You can email us at [email protected] for further information.
About the Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN)
ACAN is a network of individuals within architecture and related built environment professions taking action to address the twin crises of climate and ecological breakdown. ACAN directs personal expertise and singular efforts towards a common goal - systemic change in the profession and the construction industry at large. ACAN operates without commercial affiliations or support, allowing the network to act at pace and with autonomy. Through collective action, ACAN is working to demand, instigate and propagate the transformation of the construction industry.
This is a FREE event but please consider making a donation or becoming an ACAN member. All donations will directly support ACAN's work. Huge thanks in advance if you are able to contribute.
