About this Event
Racism is a problem in our country. What can we do about it?
Meet the leader of this group, and the author of the book we'll be discussing, Regina Jackson—
Born in Chicago in 1950, Jackson remembers an America where everything was in Black and white. Burned into her memory are; the beatings and horrific treatment of civil rights workers throughout the south, the Goodman, Chaney & Schwerner murders, the M**der of Viola Liuzzo, the M**der of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the M**der of President John Kennedy. The violence perpetrated on innocent people going about their lives, by white people. It is these memories that drive Regina to push for real change in America. Which is why she co-founded Race 2 Dinner.
For this book club:
Before 11/4, come by the Denver Book Society to grab a copy of the "White Women: Everything You Already Know About Your Own Racism." On Wed. 11/4, come prepared discuss chapters 1-4. On Wed. 12/2, we'll meet again to discuss chapters 5-8.
Though it's in book's title, you don't have to be a white woman to join! We embrace intersectionality, and the whole goal is for everyone available to engage in these conversations—to better understand the experience of our neighbors of color, to build community, and take everyday steps to eradicate continued discrimination and racism.
