After a captivating opener by Peter Boyer (Celebration Overture), you’ll hear Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade, which is rife with drama, rhythmic vitality and rich lyricism. MSO artistic collaborator, Jake Endres will narrate Aaron Copland’s inspiring Lincoln Portrait. Franz Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony comprises only two movements instead of the usual four, but these two movements show off the full range of the composer’s expression. Rounding out the concert is Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia, which features a tune we’re sure you’ll want to hum!
