About this Event
There is something rather lovely about an afternoon spent making things by hand. A pot of tea, a little something sweet, the gentle snip of scissors or click of knitting needles, and the pleasure of good company while time slows down.
Join Sycamore Assembly and Wild Avalon Art & Events for a Tea and Crafter's Social, which will be a charming afternoon of creativity, tea, and light refreshments at the beautiful Laundry Cottage at Goodwood Museum & Gardens.
Bring along your current handiwork, be it embroidery, knitting, crochet, mending, sketching, or another beloved craft, and settle in for a few leisurely hours among fellow makers. Whether you’re deep into a long-loved project or finally making time for something new, this is your invitation to set aside the to-do list, pull up a chair, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating alongside others.
Expect good conversation, delicious refreshments, a bit of bubbly (for those 21+), and the sort of afternoon that reminds us that the best things in life needn’t be hurried.

ABOUT THE SPACE:
Built in the early 1900s by socialite Fanny Tiers, the cottage was originally a laundry serving the Goodwood staff, guests, and residents.
It is here, in this building, that laundry would have been washed in great pots, hung up to dry, and ironed. The two laundresses, both Irish immigrants, would have worked in this space to wash and repair any clothing or linens. While their names are lost to history, we do know that the two women were skilled and valued by the Tiers family, as Fanny personally paid for them to travel with her between her summer home in New England and her winter home at Goodwood.
It only feels right to gather in this space, remembering the craftswomen (artisans in their trades) who first occupied the building.
