A TASTE OF THE INTERNAL ARTS — A Seasonal SeriesFour times a year, one Saturday afternoon a season, join instructor Hilary Celentano for a taste of a different internal art — each visit its own complete experience, so there's always something new, even for returning students. Fall opens with Chen Style, the original tai chi from the Chen villages of China, grounding and warming for chilly days. Winter brings Yang Style, the regal form once taught in China's imperial palaces. Spring turns to Bagua, its circular, flowing footwork a joy for energy and lightness. Summer closes with Sun Style, prized for its smooth, upright movement and its gift for posture and balance. Every session sends you home with a video and a list of the movements, so the practice stays with you. No experience needed, ever — come for one season or follow all four through the year.
A Taste of Chen Style Tai Chi
As the days turn crisp, warm up from the inside with the oldest of the tai chi traditions. Chen Style is the original art from the Chen villages of China — the root from which every other style grew — blending slow, meditative flow with sudden bursts of coiling power. In this welcoming 75-minute session, Hilary Celentano guides you through a complete six-movement form — and you'll go home with a video and a list of the movements to keep practicing on your own. No experience required. Wear comfortable clothes and come in bare feet or flat shoes; everything else is provided. A grounding, invigorating way to meet the season.
