About this Event
One artist. One audience member. A story just for you.
Take a seat across from an artist and watch a miniature performance made for one person at a time.
This March Break, Ontario artists share original stories through puppets, objects and small-scale theatre at Puppet Festival Mississauga. Inspired by the one-on-one theatre of WOOJOO Project from South Korea, each artist creates a personal encounter with a single audience member.
At this scale, the smallest details matter. A tiny movement, an everyday object or a carefully placed puppet can carry a whole scene. You sit close enough to notice the craftsmanship and follow the action as the artist performs directly for you.
Each encounter offers a different story and a different approach to puppetry. The individual format gives you time to look closely and enjoy the attention of a performance shared just between you and the artist.
For families planning a March Break activity, miniature theatre offers something unusual to try. As a children’s activity, it brings fun and education together through close observation, imaginative storytelling and an introduction to how artists work with objects.
Make it part of a family activity and compare your experiences afterwards. Which detail caught your attention? What did an ordinary object become? Everyone has something of their own to bring back to the conversation.
An outing to this family event can also make a thoughtful birthday gift or an affordable Christmas gift for someone who enjoys puppetry and trying something different.
Featuring original performances by Ontario artists.
Inspired by WOOJOO Project, South Korea.
Presented as part of Puppet Festival Mississauga.
