The Polish Duo performs thrilling music by Czech, Polish and Norwegian composers. Join us for a magical journey through Europe!
What if a single afternoon of music could carry you from ancient Greek mythology to the windswept fjords of Norway, with stops along the way in rural landscapes of Bohemia?
Join the acclaimed The Polish Duo for evocative journey through the fascinating landscapes of European myths, folklore and history.
In this special concert, the artists explore the powerful intersection of folk music, ancient legends, and the deep-seated pride of national identity.
The program includes Karol Szymanowski's La Fontaine d’Aréthuse, the first of his visionary Myths op.30 for violin and piano. The piece conjures a shimmering, impressionist world where the nymph Arethusa dissolves into a rushing spring, with violin and piano blurring the line between sound and water.
Then, Czech composer Josef Suk offers a contrasting expression of passion and electricity with his lush, late-Romantic Pieces for Violin and Piano.
The concert culminates in Edvard Grieg's majestic Sonata No. 3 in C Minor, both dramatic and heart wrenchingly lyrical, a heroic masterpiece, often described as a musical portrait of Norway.
The Polish Duo performs with devotion and passion, delivering short bits of narration to make your experience truly unforgettable.
Free and open to all.
