Celebrate 100 years since Balls Head and Berry Island became public reserves with a free community picnic on the harbour foreshore. Bring a picnic rug and enjoy live and roving music, children’s entertainment, storytelling, Indigenous face painting, guided bushwalks, heritage experiences, an art exhibition and hands-on activities for all ages.
The first 100 guests from 11am will also receive a free picnic lunchbox.
This special celebration recognises the generations of community members who helped protect these important public spaces and those who continue to care for them today. The day will also include the unveiling of an Engineering Heritage Marker recognising the national engineering heritage significance of the Balls Head Coal Loader.
Come for an hour or stay all day. Morning tours and pre-booked activities begin from 7.30am, with the main celebration running from 11am to 4pm.
