Free Practice-Sharing Session: Share plans, ideas & resources for supporting your curriculum through the arts
About this Event

A new arts-based learning SEND network for Lewisham and neighbours.

As part of the legacy of the Moving Stories project (Moving Stories: Embedding Dance and Drama in SEND teacher practice - LEAN) Lewisham Education Arts Network is setting this network up to support and develop arts practice for SEND teachers & support staff. This will meet termly to offer both skills training from artists and opportunities for practice-sharing and collaboration. Sessions will focus on drama, dance & visual arts as music is covered by Lewisham Music. Sessions will be chaired by Molly Bertrand, Assistant Head, Watergate School.

Topic for the Second session:

  • Share plans & ideas for supporting your curriculum through the arts
  • Hear from Greenvale School’s work with Shakespeare in Schools both live in person and via film
  • Hear from LEAN about SEND offers from Lewisham’s arts organisations

This follows on from March’s successful launch meeting where 11 SEND staff attended a session on using drama techniques delivered by Peoplescape Theatre. We plan to alternate charging (artist-led) with free (peer-led practice sharing sessions) termly.

Autumn’s meeting will be on the theme of using movement to regulate emotions delivered by Dance artists from Trinity Laban (date tbc).

If you have suggestions for future sessions, please contact LEAN Director [email protected]
