Music, community and sustainability come together at Victoria HallSaturday October 17th | Victoria Hall, Fremantle | 6pm for 6.30pm start | $20
What do you get when you put four talented musicians, a beautiful old Fremantle building, a community garden and a healthy dose of sustainability in the same room?
A pretty good night out, as it turns out.
On Saturday October 17th, Fremantle’s historic Victoria Hall will come alive with A Musical Evening in the Round – bringing together four wonderful Perth musicians, community and sustainability in an evening that is designed to be good for the ears, good for the community and good for the planet.
OK. I understand that sounds a little too good to be true… but hear me out.
The evening will feature four fabulous local musicians – Tracey Barnett, Matt Cal, Jasmine Gannaway and Tim Darby – sharing the stage in the much-loved “In the Round” format.
For those who haven’t experienced it before, an In the Round concert is a little different from your average gig. Rather than four separate performances, the musicians sit together and share songs, stories and musical moments, creating a more intimate and engaging experience for both the audience and the artists. And with four very different musicians around the circle, there’s plenty of musical diversity to enjoy.
There’s another important thread running through the evening too. Each of these musicians has a connection to the earth and environment woven into their work, making them a particularly good fit for this year’s community collaborator, Hilton Harvest Community Garden.
Hilton Harvest will be providing food, tea and coffee on the night, as well as showcasing their produce and running an information stall. Profits from the event will be shared with Hilton Harvest Community Garden, helping support the garden and the community connections it creates.
It’s also a fitting event for Victoria Hall, which has recently been given an upgrade and has a renewed role as a creative and community space.
As Pete Stone, Fremantle’s Director of Creative Arts and Community, explains:
“Victoria Hall is a creative working space that generates ideas and fosters connection. It is managed by the City of Fremantle to provide affordable space for artists, creatives and community.”
Well, I guess that’s a perfect match!
So come along for an evening of great music, good food and community connection – in one of Fremantle’s beautiful historic buildings. It’s affordable, it supports local musicians and community projects, and you get to spend an evening listening to four wonderful performers.
