A Golden Wire: In Renaissance England a cultivated person was expected to be musically literate, often both vocally and instrumentally. The Viola da gamba in its various sizes formed domestic consorts to explore the expressive possibilities of this plangent instrument.
Our concert by Golden Wire showcases this rich 17th Century repertory for three Viola da gambas with Organ and Harp, featuring music by Lawes, Jenkins, Ferrabosco, and Campion.
