A Far Cry gathers musicians and audiences inside the soaring sanctuary of Old South Church for an evening centered on themes of human resilience.
The program connects three visionary works across centuries: inti figgis-vizueta’s Talamh (land), Johann Sebastian Bach triumphant Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (“A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”), and Julius Eastman’s monumental Gay Guerrilla, which transforms the famous hymn into a bold, ecstatic meditation on endurance and liberation.
Performed by the combined forces of orchestra, chorus, soloists, and organ, Mighty Fortress celebrates the strength we discover when we listen, sing, and stand together.
