About this Event
Join us for this special time of prayerful reflection on the theme of the potter and the clay as we prepare for Advent. The day is led by Canon Dr Sally Harper and Liz Shields, Cathedral Lay Reader.
‘Abba, you are our Father; we the clay; you the potter.’
This contemplative day in the Concert Room draws its theme from a line in the first reading at the Eucharist on Advent Sunday: ‘Abba, you are our Father; we the clay, you the potter. We are all the work of your hands’. (Isaiah 64: 8)
Through guided reflections using visual images, clay, imaginative prayer, personal time for reflection, and optional sharing, you’ll be invited to pause to consider how God shapes each one of us as a potter shapes the clay, creating something beautiful even from our brokenness. All you need is an open heart to ponder how God might be calling each one of us to encounter Him in this quiet space, as we spend time together in prayerful reflection.
The day will include:
- Three guided reflections
- Plenty of time for silent reflection
- An opportunity to attend the midday Eucharist at 12.05 and Evensong at 3:00pm
Price: £10 to cover costs
Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day, starting at 10:00 am. Please bring your own lunch or enjoy a meal at the Cathedral’s Welsford Bistro.
Places are limited, so early booking is essential.
We look forward to welcoming you to this peaceful and reflective day.
