About this Event
International T&I thought leader, Emeritus Professor Anthony Pym, is briefly returning to his home town of Perth after delivering a keynote address to the AUSIT conference in Adelaide on the value of trustworthiness and why clients will hopefully pay for it.
Professionals Australia has organised an unparalleled event – an informal round table with Emeritus Professor Pym on the evening of Thursday, 26 November, at union premises.
It will be a relaxed, free-flowing, in-the-round discussion, in which Anthony will pose and answer questions. We will talk about the industry and its issues and what, from Anthony’s perspective as an expert translation historian and international academic, might be a way forward from the mess of community interpreting in particular.
As an external observer of the Australian T&I industry, Anthony will share his thoughts on the strengths we have that we can leverage. He will ask us to consider whether we in fact have any strengths, or are we in the same downward spiral as the rest of the world? Are there any outside-the-square solutions? What do we keep doing that is not working? What could we do that might?
Professionals Australia members will have first priority, but any spare attendance slots will be made available to non-members for a fee, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Put the date in your diary. This is an event you won't want to miss!
