About this Event

A Conversation on Housing, Poverty, and Family Outcomes

Atlanta has played a defining role in shaping the nation’s approach to housing, redevelopment, and opportunity. On October 29th, leaders from community development, public policy, housing, and civic leadership will gather at The Gathering Spot in Atlanta for a timely conversation about what we’ve learned—and where we go from here.

A Conversation on Housing, Poverty, and Family Outcomes will explore how housing policy intersects with economic mobility, family self-sufficiency, and access to opportunity. The discussion will draw, in part, from Howard Husock’s recent book, The Projects: A New History of Public Housing, which examines Atlanta’s role in the evolution of housing and redevelopment policy.

More than a book discussion, the evening is designed to bring together diverse experiences and perspectives for a candid, thoughtful dialogue about the policies and approaches that can help strengthen families and communities.
