WWIFF 2026 Special Screening
Wafa is one of thousands of Syrians who have spent years not knowing what happened to someone they love, and that shared reality gives this story a reach far beyond the personal. Maybe Tomorrow follows Wafa with intimacy and emotional clarity as she navigates the weight of absence, refusing to let her father's story be forgotten. At once a deeply personal act of love and a quiet form of resistance, the film is rooted in the everyday reality of carrying on when closure feels impossibly out of reach.
Director - Waad Al-Kateab, Wafa Mustafa
Waad Al-Kateab was born on 24 January 1991 in Syria. She is a director and producer, known for For Sama (2019), Death Without Mercy (2024) and We Dare to Dream (2023).
Wafa Mustafa is a Syrian journalist and activist who campaigns for the release of Syrian detainees. As an activist and former member of Families for Freedom, Mustafa has extensively lobbied the United Nations Security Council to call for the release of the names and locations of all those that Syrian authorities have in captivity.
