Ding Dong Lounge is turning the clock back to the decade of big guitar solos, power ballads, hairspray and hard rock anthems with 80s Rock Night on Saturday 21 November, featuring live performances from Auckland 80s hard rock and glam metal tribute band Maskara, DJs spinning classic rock hits all night, 80s karaoke 12am to 2am, and prizes for the best 80s rock outfits.The 1980s were a defining decade for rock music. Bands such as Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Poison, Whitesnake and Europe helped shape a sound built around huge choruses, screaming guitar solos and larger-than-life performances. From Sunset Strip glam metal to the hard rock anthems that filled stadiums around the world, the decade left behind a catalogue of songs that continue to get people singing along.
80s Rock Night brings that sound to Ding Dong Lounge for a full night of live music and classic rock.
Live Upstairs at Dead Witch: Maskara
Taking the stage upstairs at Dead Witch, Maskara are an Auckland-based 80s hard rock and glam metal tribute band known for their high-energy live covers of classic hair metal and rock anthems.
Expect big guitar riffs, familiar singalongs and a set inspired by the bands that defined the golden era of 80s rock. The band will be bringing the look and sound of the decade to life, so guests are encouraged to come dressed in their best 80s rock gear.
There will also be spot prizes for the best dressed, so dig out the denim, leather, bandanas, big hair and anything else that belongs on the Sunset Strip.
80s Karaoke Until 2am at Dead Witch
When the live band wraps up, the party continues upstairs at Dead Witch with 80s Karaoke from midnight until 2am.
Grab the mic and take on the decade's biggest rock anthems, power ballads and singalong classics. Whether you're a closet rock star or just there for the entertainment, it's your chance to step up and have a go.
80s Rock DJs All Night in the Main Bar
Downstairs at Ding Dong Lounge, DJs will be spinning iconic 80s rock hits throughout the night, keeping the main bar moving with classic anthems, hard rock favourites and glam metal staples.
Whether you're there for the live band, the music, the outfits or a night of singing along to songs you know every word to, 80s Rock Night is built for anyone who likes their rock loud and their guitar solos excessive.
Happy Hour runs from 6pm to 8pm and again from midnight to 1am, giving guests the chance to get the night started early and keep it going into the late hours.
