We’ve been talking about this trip for the past month, but a flyer can only tell you so much.
So we created this event to give you a better idea of what the 510 Hikers Annual Lake Tahoe Overnight is really about.
The weekend is one part get out of town, one part social connection, one part fall colors and beautiful Tahoe scenery, and one part karaoke, good food, games, laughter, and meeting people you may not have known before you arrived. Doctors say, this is a great weekend for both couples AND singles who maybe, would enjoy meeting other people who like outdoor hanging out.
Side effects of the trip will be you going home with healthy memories.
Some of us have done these Tahoe trips before, and we don’t have to think too hard to remember the game nights, the hikes, hanging out at the beach, exploring South Lake Tahoe, meeting new people, and the random moments that somehow become the stories we keep talking about afterward.
This year, we’re making it even better.
For one we have invited Black Hikers Explore of Sacramento to join in. They are bringing some joy and connection and we will be there for it. I feel some group challenge games between hike groups coming!!! Patience will lead game night in the community room and expect ALL the games played, music played, food made, drinks poured and good times had.
We’ll be pulling into South Lake Tahoe Friday evening.
We’ll meet up, get settled into the hostel that we rent out. As we get closer to the trip, we’ll announce the exact location.
If you prefer, you can arrive Saturday morning and jump right into the activities/hike.
The price is the same whether you stay one night or two.
So if you’ve been looking for an excuse to get out of town Friday night, this is it.
🥾 SATURDAY — HIKE, LUNCH & TAHOE
Saturday morning we’ll meet at Eagle Falls/Eagle Lake parking lot.
We’ve been here before, and it’s beautiful.
This will be a moderate, beginner-friendly hike and we’re keeping it chill. The hike should be no more than approximately 5 miles, with the goal of being finished around 1 p.m.
9:30 a.m. — Meet in the parking lot
10:00 a.m. — Hike begins
~12:45p.m. — Hike complete
Afterward, we’ll head back into South Lake Tahoe for lunch. We can literally walk right to the lunch spots from the Hostel.
There are several places we’ve enjoyed in the past, with multiple restaurants and seating options both indoors and outdoors.
After lunch, the afternoon is yours.
Some people may want to shower and change and nap.
Some may want to hit the beach. Some may want to explore. Some may want to hang out with friends.
And some may simply want to relax.
🎤 SATURDAY NIGHT — THE COMMUNITY PARTY
7:30 p.m., we’ll regroup at the hostel.
This is where the weekend really comes together.
We’ll have food, drinks, games, music, karaoke and plenty of time to hang out and connect.
It’s our community party.
And if you’ve been to one of these trips before, you already know that the game nights and random conversations can end up being some of the best parts of the weekend.
Afterward, some of us may walk over to Harrah’s for a little late-night fun and more dancing. No pressure. Just options.
☀️ SUNDAY — YOUR MORNING, YOUR WAY
Sunday morning is intentionally open.
Depending on how everyone is feeling, we may decide to:
• Go stand-up paddleboarding
• Rent bikes
• Grab brunch
• Explore Tahoe
• Hang out with friends
• Or simply sleep in and take it easy
There isn’t a strict agenda.
You can spend Sunday morning with yourself, with your friends, or with the people you met during the weekend.
❤️ “I DON’T KNOW ANYBODY…”
We hear this one a lot.
“I don’t know anyone.”
“I’m nervous about coming by myself.”
“I’m not sure if I’ll fit in.”
Believe us—we understand.
But so many people who have come on these trips have started out feeling exactly that way.
And almost every time, people leave with new friends, new connections, relief, laughter and stories.
That’s what we’re trying to create.
Not just another weekend away.
A weekend where you disconnect from your normal routine for a minute.
A weekend where you get outside.
A weekend where you meet people.
A weekend where you laugh.
A weekend where you create memories that aren’t centered around work, stress, responsibilities and the usual routine.
A weekend where you get back to the office Monday morning and somebody asks:
“So what did you do this weekend?”
…and you actually have a story to tell.
💰 COST — $50 for the organization and covered food and drinks for Saturday night and snacks for Friday night.
Your registration helps cover the cost of organizing the weekend, the rooms and the food basically. To register, send your $50 via Cash App or Venmo. That simply confirms you and puts you on the list.
The other cost is $50 for the weekend stay. Each room has 4 beds. We put 3 people in each room unless you want to buy out the other bed and just have double occupancy for the weekend (add an additional $85). If you have 4 people and all want to be in be same room you can do that too. Each room has its own bathroom, shower, towels, bedding, etc.
If you have to cancel, unfortunately you lose out on your money. They have a 30 day cancel policy we so can’t recoup that money. If we cancel for whatever reason, all money is returned within 48 hours.
Mellow Mountain Hostel has YEARS of respectable reviews and we have been there 4 other times and have always been treated great!!!
Take a chance. If you fly around the world all the time, fine, take a pass. But if you can’t remember the last time you do something like this, do it, life is short. Being able to do these sorts of things? Even shorter. And with each year missed, that’s one less chance to get out with US and enjoy Tahoe ON THE CHEAP and have a great freaking time.
Each person STAYING at the Hostel will get either a FREE 510 Hikers shirt or a brand new Hydroflask water bottle (while supplies last). You choose.
If you want to carpool or need to, please post on the event page where you live and be generous with that gas money!!
There is ONE private room available for the weekend at the Hostel. It’s a total of $175 for The Weeknd (but it does not cover the $50 registration fee).
Can you smoke there? Yes. But it has to be OUTSIDE the Hostel.
Can we stay somewhere else and just join in on the hike and game night party? Yes. But you still HAVE to pay the $50 per person registration to help the costs for the weekend.
Will more information come in? Yes. But, honestly, beyond the week of sharing a location for Friday meet and greet, there isn’t much more to share.
