5th Annual CHW Innovations Summit

Join us for the 5th Annual CHW Innovations Summit, hosted by the NYU Langone Health Community Health Worker Research & Resource Center and co-sponsored by the NYU-CUNY Prevention Research Center. This in-person, all-day event will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Murphy Auditorium, NYU Langone Health (550 1st Avenue, New York, NY). Registration opens at 8:30 AM, and the program begins at 9:15 AM.

This year’s Summit focuses on CHW roles in action—from how CHWs are supporting behavioral health in communities to what it takes to sustain this work through reimbursement. The day will feature a keynote address by , Acting Commissioner of Health and Chief Medical Officer of the NYC Health Department, and a presentation by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health of their new digital CHW educational initiative, Community Health Workers in Action!

Speakers and panelists will represent a range of perspectives from across New York City and New York State, including Office of Health Insurance Programs at NYS Department of Health, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NYC Health + Hospitals, The New School, AIRnyc, Neighborhood Housing Services of Brooklyn, Montefiore Medical Center, and the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island.

The first panel will explore how CHWs are being trained for and delivering behavioral health support across New York City, sharing what’s working, what’s challenging, and what to consider as CHW roles continue to expand in the mental health space. The second panel will focus on sustaining the CHW workforce, with reflections from providers on reimbursement, financing models, and lessons learned from navigating Medicaid and other payors.

To help set the stage for these conversations, an optional introductory workshop, Understanding Medicaid Billing for CHW Services, will be offered during lunch from 1:00-2:00PM. This session is designed to walk through billing basics, Medicaid benefits for CHW services, and key terminology. Space is limited to 150 attendees.

Throughout the day, there will be plenty of time to connect with others doing this work, including a networking breakfast, lunch, and a closing reception. We’re looking forward to a day of learning, conversation, and community—and hope you’ll join us!
