The 50mm lens is one of the most versatile and rewarding lenses in any photographer's kit bag. Neither a wide-angle nor a telephoto lens, it offers a natural perspective that's remarkably close to the way we see the world with our own eyes.Set in the historic surroundings of Old Portsmouth, this practical meetup will use the waterfront's range of interesting subjects - including boats, swans, weathered textures, ropes, reflections and harbour scenes - to help you get the very best from a fixed prime lens.
We'll begin with a quick review of the key camera settings before exploring the creative advantages of shooting with a 50mm lens and techniques for composing striking images. As always, there will be plenty of opportunities to put your skills into practice in a relaxed and friendly environment.
