The 28th Annual STEP UP for Down Syndrome Awareness Walk will be held Sunday October 26th 2025 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Bert Ferguson Park in Cordova. Sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South this one mile fun walk is held each year in October to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness month and is designed to promote awareness of the inherent worth and abilities of people with Down syndrome.
Whether you have Down syndrome know someone who does want to volunteer at the event or just want to show your support come and join the STEP UP for Down Syndrome Walk. Individuals and teams can register for the event online by visiting https://charity.pledgeit.org/stepupmemphis
Cost for registration includes admission & t-shirt. There is no cost for individuals with Down syndrome. Prizes will be awarded for the highest fundraisers as well as the largest teams. The afternoon will include a picnic lunch entertainment a children’s play area petting zoo vendors resources food trucks and a one-mile family walk. All proceeds from this event go to support our many free programs offered to the community.
The event has grown from approximately 60 participants in 1997 to more than 2500 currently making the STEP UP for Down Syndrome event one of the largest disability awareness events in the Mid-South. The Memphis area alone has over 1500 members of its community with Down syndrome.
