About this Event
[EN]
Twenty-eight days, one cycle, and a chorus of voices with plenty to say about a woman’s body. In Olga Shiliaeva’s play “28 Days”, the protagonist tries to hear her own thoughts and feelings through all that noise. Anja Demidova stages the text as a reading in English, translated by Katherine Soloviev.
The staged reading is the outcome of a week-long theatre laboratory. Seven male actors work with the text, its characters and physical movement; they also make the masks they will wear on stage. Their voices surround a protagonist trying to distinguish her own feelings from everyone else’s opinions. Shiliaeva’s play was shortlisted for the Lubimovka Festival in 2018 and nominated for a Golden Mask in 2020 in the Best Work by a Playwright category. The project is part of Quarteera e.V.’s “Queer Culture Against Fake” programme.
