The Shakori 40 Running Festival returns December 4–5, 2026, in Pittsboro, North Carolina, for a race weekend that blends trail running, live music, camping, and a great community atmosphere. The event features a 40 Mile Individual, 40K Individual, 40 Mile age-graded team relay, and a 4 Mile open race, all held at the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center.The course uses a 4-mile loop with the start and finish in the middle of the Shakori Hills fairgrounds and camping area, which creates a fun, spectator-friendly setup and keeps the energy high all day. The relay allows teams of 2 to 10 members, adding a strong team element to the festival feel of the weekend.
More than just a race, Shakori 40 is built around the full experience. Friday includes camping check-in, packet pickup, live music, and a cookout, while Saturday brings a full day of racing and celebration.
