About this Event
Richard T. Greener (1844 - 1922) was the first African American man to serve on the faculty at the University of South Carolina. The Greener Lecture series continues his legacy of teaching at USC by focusing on a topic relating to his life as an educator, philosopher, librarian, lawyer, and diplomat.
James E. Bowers was an undergraduate student at USC in the early days of desegregation and the first full-time African American law school professor.
Bowers’ new memoir, "Always Looking Forward: A Life in Law, Learning, and Liberation" (USC Press) will be available for purchase.
Richard Greener’s 1876 law diploma will be on display during the event.
