About this Event
These workshops are intended to do two things:
1. Encourage activism and creativity, with words. One sentence at a time.
2. Offer the community access to the means of production.
Rick Griffith is the lead letterpress teacher; he is generally assisted by Rafael, Aaron, David, Nick, and Curtis. The workshops are taught by a constellation of these 5 well-trained people. Whoever is available will teach the course. Everyone is not always present.
Everyone teaching or assisting in the printshop is a volunteer; kindness and compliments will be accepted and expected.
This workshop is an introduction to letterpress printing. More complex projects may require a private workshop.

White paper is included in the workshop (any size)
Colored paper costs $1 per sheet (any size, cash, venmo)
Specialty paper or backgrounds are available at various prices. Please ask. (cash, venmo)
You can also support us by buying Rick's prints, our community prints, and used books.
SCHEDULE & ATTENDANCE NEEDS
Please arrive on time. We will be doing introductions at 10:10 promptly.
Please bring a lunch or provide for your nutritional requirements. We have a fridge.
We have cold filtered water, bubbly water, and we can find a tea bag and hot water if you need that.
Our space is accessible; however, we may need time to make arrangements for the comfort of all of our guests. Please let us know in advance if any arrangements should be made. We are happy to work with you.
Each Workshop is open to 6-10 people; occasionally, 11.
There will be between 2-4 attendants for your workshop. Their job is to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
Prints usually need 24-48 hours to dry. If you can—come and pick them up the following day or later by visiting the bookstore.

ACCESSIBILITY
Parking: Metered street parking is available (parallel parking) on Market St. Paid lots are available within a few blocks. The closest one is on 21st and Market St.
Entrance Access: Our front door is at street level and manually operated, accessible for wheelchairs and mobility aids. The rest of the block has sidewalks raised by five steps; however, the bike lane offers a step-free route down the block with minimal car traffic.
Restrooms: All-gender restrooms. Just like at home.
Communication: All staff on site speak English. There will be one Spanish-speaking staff member. We welcome communication via translation apps (Google Translate is available). While we do not use ASL, we’re happy to communicate through apps or other tools that work for you.
Alcohol Policy: No alcohol will be served or permitted at this event.
Refund Policy: Refund requests made before 24 hours of the workshop can be refunded as a one-time credit for a workshop of equal or less value at a later date. Refund requests within 24 hours will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
