A series of six shinrin yoku sessions guided by nature. These sessions are specifically designed to support an individual who is grieving.
About this Event

This six-week 1:1 programme offers a gentle, supportive space for anyone navigating grief, loss, or significant life change. Through guided Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) sessions, we will slow down together in the calming presence of trees and nature, allowing space to breathe, reflect, rest, and reconnect.

Unlike a countryside walk or hike, Forest Bathing is not about distance or fitness. Rooted in Japanese wellbeing practices and supported by a growing body of research, it involves intentionally engaging the senses in natural environments. Studies suggest time spent among trees may help reduce stress hormones, lower blood pressure, support immune function, improve sleep, and calm the nervous system. Nature-based mindfulness practices have also been linked to reduced anxiety, improved mood, and increased feelings of connection and emotional resilience.

Grief can be deeply isolating and exhausting. In times of loss, the natural world can offer something rare: a quiet, non-judgemental space where nothing is expected of us. The changing seasons, rhythms of the woodland, and opportunities for stillness can gently support emotional processing and provide moments of peace alongside grief.

These weekly sessions are designed to unfold slowly and compassionately, with invitations tailored to your needs and energy levels on the day. There is no pressure to talk, share, or “move on” from grief. Instead, this is an opportunity to simply arrive as you are and be supported by nature, gentle guidance, and time outdoors.

Sessions will take place in the beautiful woodlands of Oxleas and surrounding green spaces in South East London.
